WHAT IS MT. OLIVE'S RESOURCE ROOM?
Since 2014, Mount Olive Christian Day School has made the addition of a resource room to provide academic support to students struggling academically or who have been diagnosed with a disability. Mount Olive wants to ensure that ALL students have the opportunity to be educated in a setting where they learn about the love of Jesus. The resource room is a warm and inviting classroom in which every student is valued and loved like family.
The resource room is a classroom where a student is placed to receive individualized instruction in an academic area in order to meet their unique learning needs. (Please refer to the "Referral Process" page for more specifics). A service plan is created for the students in need of support which also includes their classroom accommodations. This Service Plan is reviewed often throughout the school year to best meet the student's needs. The subject areas of focus are primarily Math, Language Arts/Reading, and Spelling. Students stay in the resource room for just that class period, and then go back to their homeroom. Students are also formally and informally tested in the resource room in order to get an accurate idea of their strengths and areas needed to be improved. Students are also allowed to come to the resource room for extra help on their assignments/projects or to take quizzes and tests upon teacher approval.
